I probably prefer this one, but note that few other forum members have joined in with this version; the other is better for more people getting involved.

I actually thought that the first one would possibly be exhausting for forum members. Could there be a version that combines the advantages of both versions?
 
Maybe if it starts with a clue that leads to questions; the Cantabria one could have been Woodcock, Quail, Capercaillie or Black Grouse (at least), further questions could have narrowed it down. Or start with a location to then get to a final species; eg Kruger National Park, South Africa.

I am now thinking that it would be possible better to provide the general distribution in continents, and, in the case of migratory species the continents of their non-breeding period too. But let's finish with that one first
