North America (from Alaska down mainly west of the American Cordillera to the borders of Nearctic-Neotropical realms), Europe (mostly in mountain habitas), North Africa and Palearctic Asia south of the arctic (except some desert habitats, eastern forests and high Tibetan Plateau)
