The snow leopard cubs are now on exhibit and a contest is being held to name them.

The snow leopard twins have been named Yuki and Kang. Both names mean snow (Yuki is Japanese and Kang is Tibetan).

Snow leopards Raj and Kovo have their SSP recommendations. Again I can't tell who is who by their studbook number but one will got to Philadelphia and the other is headed to Tama Zoo in Japan. The one going to Japan is being traded for a female who will come to Toronto. No schedule for the moves.
More details about the heavy horse exhibit set to open soon. There will be wagon rides, a carriage for weddings and sleigh rides come winter. Four male horses will be arriving Flame, Ice, Bob and Tom.

Young polar bears Humphrey, Star and Blizzard have moved into the Journey to Churchill exhibit where they will be introduced to the older bears Hudson, Storm, Aurora and Kaska this fall. It will be the first time brothers Hudson and Humphrey will meet.

Red panda brothers Rakesh and Arun have been moved to Vancouver. Unfortunately Rakesh has since died of a lung infection he likely picked up before leaving Winnipeg.

The zoo has a new harbour seal, Caesium. He was rescued by the Vancouver Aquarium after he damaged his jaw. Surgery was performed but he doesn't have the full range of motion so he wasn't seen as a good candidate for release. He is getting along well with the other three seals.
The polar bear center has been renamed the Leatherdale International Polar Bear Conservation Centre in honor of significant donors.

At the end of the CAZA conference in Winnipeg, Assiniboine won the coveted Thomas R. Baines award for Journey to Churchill. The exhibit just keeps winning awards. The investment made was clearly worthwhile.
