It seems once more that sensible conservation policies are in danger of becoming a victim of populist policy makers.

I am glad common sense prevailed.

I wish politicians up in Churchill would do something constructive with climate change goals so polar bears need no longer come ashore each year for lack of sea ice and driven out of hunger and despair for not being able to feed. This is a critical BIG ISSUE.

Much more important than moaning about a couple of polar bear cubs that will go to one of the prime captive relocation centers with prime captive polar bear care. I am sure the AZA / CAZA will make constructive decisions for their current well-being and their future perspectives with the SSP.

Kifaru Bwana there are zero SSP perspectives for any Canadian polar bear. The SSP doesn't recognize them because they cannot be shipped to the US. Something would have to change for US laws for that to be possible and that's highly unlikely. The only hope for a cub born in Canada is for the cub to be sent to Europe or Japan which also seems difficult since Hudson and Humphrey were only to have a brief stop in Toronto before going to Europe and they have been back nearly a year now.
