The Atlantic City Aquarium in New Jersey has been closed since before the pandemic.

This article says they have been in the process of a major renovation and the current reopening schedule is set for this November.

I'll be honest, I was not even aware there was an aquarium there, but I suppose it makes sense given the location as a tourist destination.

Well, its been two years since the aquarium announced its original reopening date, and several more reopening date announcements later its still closed...

But they've apparently received money from an organization called the American Rescue Plan that will allow them to complete renovations. The mayor of AC has also announced it will reopen in July 1, 2024. I'll believe it when I see it.

And just like that.... the aquarium reopening date is delayed AGAIN until September . At least Maine State Aquarium has their s**t together and is reopening this week.

I wonder if there has been staff maintaining a small animal collection for all these years. Several online articles don't make mention of what has happened to the captive wildlife in the tanks. Perhaps many were released?
