Attica Zoological Park Attica zoo, Greece

Yesterday? a 3-month old white tiger with very poor physical condition, was found under a trash container at the zoo exit. The zoo believes that this animal was dumped there and is most likely a victim of the illegal wildlife trade. Currently the tiger is being treated by the zoo. His condition is critical, since he has not received proper care and nutrition, resulting in serious, possibly irreversible, musculoskeletal or other health problems.

Despite serious efforts made by the zoo to help and diagnose the white tigers condition, the hard decission was made to euthanise her today.

I visited last weekend and I really enjoyed it. One thing to note is that the stands for the dolphin show have been removed and the area looks much nicer.
One of the dolphins was trying to interact with the visitors by throwing floaters to them.

Thanks for the video. I visited last Saturday and I saw it. As expected, it has grown since March.

During my previous visit, I noticed that the prairie dogs had fug into another enclosure. On Saturday, they had further expanded into more enclosures. I suspect that might have dug outside the Zoo as well.

In a visit during late May except for a family of prairie dogs in the large African paddock, I also saw several small birds (probably sparrows, but I'm not 100% certain) entering some of the parrot aviaries and some of the aviaries at the ground-bird row. I hope that neither ends up at the enclosure of a predator...:(

I noticed that there were no prairie fogs in the cheetah enclosure, although a burrow can be seen that reaches the Rhino one.

So last Friday (world lemur day) the zoo opened the renovated lemur walk through exhibit.
According to the source they have 31 ring tailed lemurs.
The new exhibit seems kinda better than the last as it has more climbing opportunities and some more vegetation. (I hope when I get to visit some more plants will have been grown)

Wow, that is a really big group now!

I am from Greece so I have visited this zoo once (together with other parks and zoos in other travels in Europe). Curiously, we were permitted to feed animals and we (me and my family) feed two giraffes. We were like dwarfs against the tallest animal on Earth

When I visited on 29 December, the lemurs were very active. I was impressed how they climbed on visitors. It seems that the renovation works increased yhe interaction opportunities.

The park has put out a statement regarding the transfer of their dolphins to Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Florida.
It basically confirms the transfer, says that the dolphins aren't being sold(mostly because of some news articles misleadingly claiming so), that the place was chosen as the best option by the EEP coordinator and that the park will not host dolphins anymore (and they mention that the transfer is in line with their development plan)
Also they say that no dolphin sanctuaries exist in Greece (which is true though there is one being created slowly - as in being created for over 6 years and claiming that conservation lobbying is hindering their progress-) , because there were rumors that the dolphins could possibly go to a marine sanctuary here in Greece. The rumors were mostly fueled by a statement of the national animal rights association where they claim that the dolphins could go instead of the US to a marine sanctuary in Greece.

I was at the Zoo last week. I asked a keeper about the dolphins. She told me that they are still waiting for transferring 5.0 out of the 9.0 to the States. She didn't know what will happen with the remaining 4.

Doesn't Attica hold the Black Sea dolphin?
Or is it ZTL speculation? And does anyone know if it's a widely recognised subspecies or if it's dubious?

They are a recognised sub species now. I know some aren't Black Sea Dolphins, although I can't confirm about the rest. Most of Attica's dolphins have come from dodgy backgrounds with little records online.
