Audubon Zoo Audubon zoo travel advice

A short summary of the insectarium seeing as it will be easier to summarize the than the aquarium. It’s nothing spectacular but is worth a visit. The two exhibits that stood out where the Louisiana swamp room which has a really cool tank. The tank has a tree in the center with the surrounding area being allocated for I believe it was baby alligators. Then smaller tanks inserted on the side of the tank containing fishing spiders, water scavenger beetles, and whirligig beetles. The other exhibit that stood out to me was the butterfly exhibit it was just enjoyable nothing else just a good relaxing time. One thing the insectarium stands out in is the theming, all of the exhibit are very well themed and atmospheric, but don’t get in the way of viewing. the insectarium rank on my list of insectariums is 2. My complete list is as follows
1. Montreal insectarium
2. Audubon insectarium

Did you get to try a chocolate chirp cookie or other delicacy in the Insectarium Bug Kitchen?
Yes, its really nothing special. They only let you have a small amount of each sample so you cant distinguish a clear taste.

Now onto the aquarium I’ll be doing this section by section.
Section 0: entering the building
I had bought a digital pass for all of the Audobon institutions and held them digitally. However, the employees didn’t seem to recognize the pass:mad:. I hope the zoo employees can handle this and not take forever. When we were waiting in line I was able to view of Parakeet Pointe, of the aquariums and zoos I’ve been this has been a first it’s a unique concept and a fun viewing experience both inside and out, but I digress. The interior is pretty standard aquarium stuff. Then i saw a big sign saying COME HERE THIS IS THE WAY YOUR’E SUPPOSED TO GO (not the exact wording BTW) so I go to
Section 1: Great Maya Reef. The first exhibit contains i dont know what, I couldn’t find a sign. Then we went through the tunnel which was entertaining and enjoyable enough. Nothing else really stood out to me. Overall I thought this exhibit was fine. The theming in some parts is amazingly well done and looks great, but sometimes It felt like why is this here what purpose does it serve. Overall enjoyable exhibit but nothing special 5/10

Section 2: Amazon
The exhibit begins with some frog tanks, then you go up an escalator to a very well foliaged room. With many aquariums containing freshwater species. There was a large tank containing many large fish including a Catfish. Then i saw a the electric eel. Overall i liked this exhibit much more than the maya reef. The theming is very well done and only adds to the exhibit rather than getting in your face. I also enjoyed the tank design a lot more. I give this exhibit a 8/10
