Aussie native exports

Hey guys,
Just wondering if you guys know if Red Kangaroos can be exported to the UK. And also what the law says regarding native reptiles being exported. Any help would be appreciated.

Not by private individuals, but approved Australian zoos and aquariums can export to approved zoos and aquariums overseas (approved by DEW, that is). Import and exports of "wild" animals cannot be undertaken by private individuals, apart from under extremely exceptional circumstances.

Those Australian reptiles which are thriving in private collections overseas, such as bearded dragons, are doing so in spite of our export laws, not because of them.

Almost all are descended from founders who were smuggled out of the country.

Australia's restrictive export laws (which are "pushed" by animal libbers) are counter-productive to large scale breeding.

The smuggling of birds and reptiles into and out of Australia, which is pretty horrible, will never be stamped out until there are reasonable import and export laws. The present laws are not reasonable.

As a reptile keeper (Hobby) I am amazed at some of the Aussie reptile species that you can see for sale on some of those US websites, some of them are very difficult even to get hold of even in this country.

same thing with NZ herptiles. Particularly in Europe there are people keeping and selling species that have never been legally exported (as far as I know) like rough geckoes and NZ frogs, and things like tuatara crop up every so often on reptile forums or sale sites.
