Australia Zoo Australia zoo

im sorry guys i dont have a scanner and its too big anyway even if i did. but it does mark out some of the future exhibits and its really detailed, down to the palm trees!!!

kool send it to me lol, nah serious next time ya at the zoo, could you get me a map, i will pay for it, and postage.

sounds interesting, not sure what the time frame is on getting the Gorillas or Orangs.

also i have read here somehere someone said mogo are getting gorrillas, um no chance guys to clear it, they will hve orangs before that. there are no rwal plans for mogo into the future, except the chimps, and maybe rhinos, which they have around the world, male from werribee, another female from oz and another female from nz, apart from that the zoo needs an overhaul and tht will be after those to, and i am saying rhinos still may be more that 3 yrs yet

on mogo zoo

i like mogo zoo quite alot, but when i visited about 3years ago i didnt like the first half of the zoo where the big cats and bears are located. that section needs an overhaul, although the open-range section is brilliant and the reptile house was outstanding for a small zoo.
another good zoo on the south-coast is symbio wildlife gardens near wollongong. its not far from sydney and it keeps meerkats, newly acquired tasmanian devils and soon red-pandas. it started with native animals but appears to be expanding its range of exotics!!!

same with mogo, now its a wholey exotic

the zoo desp needs a overhaul up tht section, but they dont have money, all the keepers think so as well.

The new "Elephantasia" is now open at Australia zoo its said to be the largest elephant exhibit in the country. some details are on their website.

The new exhibit is five Hectares and they are taken out the back (off exhibit) where they roam in 100 areas, not bad. The new concrete giant tree stumps in the exhibit look real, they have planted fig trees in the top of them like giant flower pots, what a good idea. The gang are being trained to going into the deeper part of theit new swimming pool which from the photo on their website looks quite deep.

News just to hand, Australia zoo is set to expand again with more land for a big sarfai type park, will update on this as soon as i hear more.

It would seem that Australia zoo has done a deal with the Queensland state goverment to exchange blocks of land where now Aust zoo will own some of the land which is part of the Beerwh state forest with the Qld goverment getting a larger block in return, wow it just keeps getting bigger.

Pat the last i heard it was about 890 hecs, but i am not real sure, the new land is for a safrai type exhibit, trying to find out more details.

In todays news paper it reports that Australia zoo will create a open range safari costing $100 million with tourists riding in secured vehiches through landscapes looking like Africa and Asia. The area to be used is 135 ha.

Straff currently number 550 and is expected to be 1000 over the next 5 years, and by 2015 up tp 2000.

The land swap with the Queensland goverment means Aust zoo get 35 ha of the Beerwah state forest in return for 200 ha owned by the zoo. The zoo is looking obtaining another 100 ha of the Beerwah state forest if it can be worked out.

he should have bought mareeba when he had a chance!

becuses they won't be getting hippos from anywhere else..

Maybe there is a chance they may get Hippos, I really hope they get the extra 100 ha of land, as I said some time ago this place is going to be one the best zoos in Australia, big things are a happening up here.

i'm interested as to why you consider "the best zoo in the world" zooboy.
what makes it better than the bronx, san diego or even western plains or melbourne zoos?

i'm not necessarily disagreeing, iv'e never even been there. but they have very few exotic mammal species -

tamarins, lemurs (neither of whom are on display yet as far as i know), tigers, cheetah, elephants and otters. hats it. for a zoofan i'm supprised you don't find it a little dull. so tell me what is it you love?

i'm guessing the conservation initiatives? the interactiveness?

no sorry, mark 1st i know u said austrlia, i was commenting, and this to u apt, that eventually it will be better than san diego or the bronx, melbourne and taronga.

it has the constant funds, and not only that the background and leadership of animals first, conservation, its not run as a buisness like taronga for eg, its run soley first off for the animals.

at the moment its not, but wait for a safari, i say to the standard of disney AK, and immersion exhibits like san diegos money tails and trails, it will ahev the personal use of measures like glass and hands on, its a working zoo, and its going to be the best
