Hey folks. To while away time I mapped as many zoos and aquaria as I could locate in google maps. Here's the result, on the off-chance that it comes in handy for anyone. Most are flagged exactly, a few are approximate (always within a few hundred metres, and my best guess as to where they are exactly).

If anyone has others to add to the map, let me know their name and as many location details as you have, and I'll whack them in. Red flags are ZAA members, blue are others.

Nicely done, although Moonlit should be red (we are still on the ZAA website as Pearcedale Coservation Park). Do you want some more - and how about extinct zoos?

Well done CGS,

What a great resource this is.

Bayles Fauna Park, Bayles
Warrook Cattle Farm, Caldermeade
Mt Rothwell, Little River
Serrendip, Lalor
Bunninyong Bird Park
Gumbuya Park

Extinct:

Geelong Zoo, botanic gardens
White Hills Botanic Gardens, Bendigo
Ballarat Zoo, south end Botanic gardens
Fauna park at Philip Island motor racing circuit
Beverage Bird Park
Living Wings and Things, Bendigo (next to pottery)
Sorrento Aquarium

more when I can remember details

Narandera inland fisheries centre has a small aquarium, with fish of the Murray Darling basin. I will be there this weekend and will try to remember to take some phptos.

Well done ... but I could have saved you a bit of time - most of them are already in my database right here on ZooChat! :D ... see here: Australia Maps (scroll down to see Google map with location markers)

Gah. Doesn't matter - I did it mostly whilst trying to learn of as many zoos and aquaria as possible. Feel free to use my map to fill gaps on yours. :)

Ahhhh but I know of some that aren't on either of those maps! :D

Bundaberg Qld has a council run zoo at a park in Quay St (right across from the railway line, diagonal from the train station).
Hamilton, Vic has a small council run one at the botanical gardens, mostly birds, including a walk through aviary.
Hervey Bay, Qld - Reef World. Right by the pier on the Esp at Urangan.

Defunct: Murray Cod Hatcheries in Wagga Wagga NSW. I couldn't give you the location, as I remember going there when I was 10 & under. I didn't really understand directions then. LOL
Defunct: Nature World, Hervey Bay Qld. Cnr Maryborough Road & Fairway Drive.

I thought of anothers one - the Good ol' Big Pineapple at Nambour Qld.

And 2 that have closed down:

Defunct: Forest Glen Deer Sanctuary & Zoo.
Defunct: Super Bee.

On reflection, I've decided not to do extinct zoos as the comprehensiveness I'm after is just about impossible to achieve.

Can anyone confirm that the following are going concerns? These are some of the parks about which there is very little information available, leading me to wonder if they still survive.

- Barefoot Bushman's Wildlife Park, Airlie Beach, Queensland - an accurate street address if applicable would also be wonderful.
- Otway Deer and Wildlife Park
- Quindalup Fauna Park

Also if any of the others have closed please let me know.

What about the koala hospital at port macqaurie i dont know about know but when i was living there u could visit it.
