If Taman Safari Bogor have a China themed exhibit, then Taman Safari Prigen have a Australasia themed exhibit. The exhibit houses a pair wombat named Wendy and Wattle, currently the only Southeast Asian zoo that keep this species. The area which occupies an area of about 6 hectares of land was first open in the Eid of 2018. The two wombats and three red-necked wallabies came from Australia Zoo.
A year before the arrival of wombats and red-necked wallabies to the park, Taman Safari Prigen has sent several of their veterinarians to Australia Zoo to treat them specifically. The two species arrived in Taman Safari Prigen on February 1st, 2018.
Just like the Panda Palace, the theming for Australiana looks really good and probably looks similar to what most Indonesian think Australia looks like.
Visitors can interact with the merino sheep or riding a horse near the entrance. The walkthrough area of the Australiana houses eastern grey kangaroo (Macropus giganteus), red-necked wallaby (Macropus rufogriseus), agile wallaby (Macropus agilis), and black swan (Cygnus atratus). There is also a two exhibits, the first houses dusky pademelon (Thylogale brunii) and the other houses common wombat (Vombatus ursinus). A indoor viewing area for the wombats also houses several animals, the central bearded dragon (Pogona vitticeps), Indonesian blue-tongued skink (Tiliqua gigas), carpet python (Morelia spilota) and also some non-australasian animals like the reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus), Malayan porcupine (Hystrix brachyura), and large flying fox (Pteropus vampyrus).
The presence of the wombats and red-necked wallabies is the result of a breeding Lian collaboration between Taman Safari Prigen and Australia Zoo. This collaboration itself consists of 2 stages. The first stage is the breeding loan for wombat & red-necked wallaby, while the second stage is for koalas.
TSI planned to add a pair of koala (Phascolarctos cinereus) in the future. They're currently planting the eucalyptus for the koalas.
