Oh, I think Bristol most certainly counts as the biggest loss since Belle Vue - despite the renaming of Wild Place, it doesn't really count as a "relocation" in the slightest considering a) how different Wild Place is from Bristol Zoo even now and b) the fact that Wild Place had existed for almost a decade before Bristol closed.
I think some of the other collections cited upthread are bigger losses than Axe as well - and I'll chuck Blackbrook Zoo into the mix too!
Although for obvious reasons I never visited, from all I've heard I think it is a *little* unfair to lump Windsor in with South Lakes
and I'd actually say that the latter was indeed a loss, but in a more esoteric fashion - that is to say, a loss of potential rather than a material loss.
