Announced at AZA Conference in Houston this afternoon:

Top Exhibit Award to Oregon Zoo, Preadators of the Serengeti

Top Exhibit Award
to Woodland Park Zoo, Humboldt Penguin

Significant Achievement Award to Philadelphia Zoo, MacNeil Avian Center

Significant Achievement Award to San Diego Zoo, Elephant Odyssey

Significant Achievement Award to Fundacion Temaiken (Argentina), The Bird's Place ( • BIOPARQUE TEMAIKEN • )

The order in which I wrote them does not reflect any priority. There were the two levels of award.

Wasn't Zoo Miami's "Amazon & Beyond" a candidate? Woodland Park Zoo has racked up at least 7 AZA exhibit awards over the years, but it is intriguing to see the much-maligned "Elephant Odyssey" ending up as a top contender.

Wooo, San Diego Zoo has no exhibit awards in the last 20 years. Nice to see the Humboldt Penguin exhibit won at WPZ, they're always winning exhibit awards at the WPZ....

I guess a Significant Achievement award is appropriate for San Diego. I strongly dislike Elephant Oddyssey but you can't deny it's significance and innovation, they have done something radically different and original.

I really do not think Philly's Avian Center belongs in this category with the others!

Is there a list of all the nominees available anywhere?

I'm so happy for Fundacion Temaiken! :) The Bird's Place is a beautiful and great exhibit, it is definitely one of the best aviaries in Latin America. Congrats!

Zoochat scoop!

The award winners listed here, before they have been listed at the AZA web site!
