Columbus deserved to lose accreditation, as they were in direct violation of AZA policies surrounding acquisition of animals.

No, they weren't. It was issues with poorly handled finances from the higher ups. The "cat acquisition scandal" was made up by those higher-ups so they could look better and throw Jack Hannah under the bus, since he can't defend himself (dementia).

Do you have any evidence for the fact this scandal was made up? The following quote is from AZA president Dan Ashe's official statement on Columbus losing accreditation, and I don't know why he would lie about the reasoning for the accreditation loss:

“Issues of financial mismanagement have been reviewed by an independent forensic analysis and reported on in the media. Those issues alone are serious. More substantial and concerning is a long record of intentional and repeated animal transfers with non-AZA members intended to supply baby animals – mainly big cats – for entertainment purposes.

I think they're doing the best they can given the very complex landscape they manage. Some things can be done better ofc but I don't wanna solve such issues with a salty attitude
