Auckland Zoo Baby Meerkats

For those of you who didn't know, the (three, I think) baby meerkats are now on display in the meerkat enclosure behind the two with the domes.

Does anyone know when they were born?

One of our meerkats, Mosi, has given birth to four meerkat kits!

They are still settling into their enclosure (between the entry and the exit of the meerkat tunnels), so try to catch a glimpse of them on your next visit, but please don’t make too much noise!

saw them on monday, 3 weeks old approx and very cute. wellington zoo also seems to have some young kats too.
 
Breeding Meerkats successfully has been a long term goal as I recall. They had some significant problem in the 2000s, the group got down to 2 at one point and they recieved some animals from Orana.

Lots of the animals were suffering from cats entering their enclosure after hours and defecating causing seizures...
 
Who is the mother of this latest litter as Umi their previous breeding female went to Dubbo late last year (and is doing well of her own over there)?

I was watching the first Zoo DVD last night, and they covered getting the third meerkat. They had 2 males, with enough space to hold 20.
 
2 more meerkats have been born most likley to Kulu and one of the ingland (i think) imported males(forgotten the names)
