Bali Zoo Bali Zoo

I visited Bali Zoo on August 13th with @twilighter and I have now uploaded approximately 140 photos into the gallery as this was a rather underrepresented zoo. Now there's a full allotment of images to look through and I'll type up a review of the zoo in the future. :)

Molly's body has been retrieved and was laid to rest on zoo grounds.

Sharing more on how she died the zoo wrote:
"Shedding light on Molly's fatality, at approximately 3:30 p.m., on December 16, Molly was guided by her mahout, heading back to the holding area after completing a routine socialization activity.
A standard activity at Bali Zoo's daily care program, where elephants spend their daily playtime, explore their surroundings, and engage in activities.

The regular route crossing Wos River typically maintains calm waters. However, the heavy rainfall caused an unexpected and rapid rise in the water level, creating a strong and dangerous current. During this unfortunate event, Molly lost her balance and was swept away."

Several breeding success has been reported, including three peafowls (Unspecified species) and an macaw (Implied to be the blue-and-yellow macaw).

While this might be considered "unimportant" for some, this is still a good news considering the conditions after Molly passing, with Bali Zoo generally being a good facility (Heavily pushed back with their elephant rides and interactions).

Bali Zoo on Instagram: "One week ago, something special happened at Bali Zoo, We welcomed 3 baby peacocks a.k.a peachick into the world! They hatched with an initial weight of just around 90 grams, about the same as a bar of soap. These tiny bundles of feathers are part of our growing peacock family, now totaling 15. To ensure they thrive, they are fed twice daily with veggies and special feed, and we’ve set up heat lamps to mimic the warmth they’d get from their mother. This careful attention is part of our commitment to successful breeding and conservation efforts. Watching them take their first steps (and pecks!) is truly heartwarming✨ #Peacock #BaliZoo #ExploreBaliZoo #Bali #Zoo #LoveConserveShare"

Bali Zoo on Instagram: "Meet the newest addition to the Bali Zoo family—our baby macaw! Another exciting milestone in our success breeding journey, this little one is under 1.5 months old and still waiting for its bright, beautiful feathers to grow in. Right now, it’s sticking close with our vet team, receiving extra special care, just like #BillieEilish says, “birds of a feather, we should stick together” ✨ To keep it happy and healthy, our vet team carefully feeds it a smooth formula using a needleless syringe. This gentle feeding continues until it turns 1.5 months old or reaches 300 grams before it’s time to try softened fruits! Remember, a happy tummy means a happy baby! #BirdsOfAFeather #Macaw #Bird #BaliZoo #ExploreBaliZoo #Wildlife #Bali #Zoo #LoveConserveShare"

@Rizz Carlton, I suppose it is not easy to put a finger on what species the peafowls would be. They could be domestic or the real article - Javan peafowl....!
If I look for Peafowl and Bali Zoo I get this page:
A) Get to Know The Peafowl (Peacock) of Indonesia - Taman Safari Bali
B) Get to know Green Peacock

There was also an Alamy stock photo on Javan peafowl - Merak hijau.
.aa.) Green javan peafowl (Pavo muticus) is seen in a display of spreaded feathers at Bali Zoo in Gianyar, Bali, Indonesia Stock Photo - Alamy
