Phenomal news. A female Goodfellow's Tree-Kangaroo has been imported from Jardin des Plantes, France. Female Kiwai will be paired with their resident male Kombai - reported on social media.

This is very exciting indeed! While there has been progress in the population with births at Healesville and Perth in the last couple of years, the pairs at Taronga and the National Zoo have also been unsuccessful in breeding thus far, so hopefully this new pair, including a founder to the population, will have great success.

And good on Ballarat as a privately-owned zoo to manage their first international import! Can't be easy getting marsupials into the country.

I wonder if they have considered swapping the parters between zoos perhaps could spur some breeding activity
