Banham Zoo Banham Zoo News

After 15 long months Aisling gave birth to a handsome little chap on Tuesday 26th April at around 7pm. Both are doing very well and Aisling is proving to be a fantastic mum once again! Some of the giraffe have some strange shapes in their coat pattern but this heart shape has to be one of the best! If you can spot it!

The post was just copied word for word from the park's facebook page. The heart shape is visible on the youngster in the photo posted by the park on the facebook page.

Thanks Zooleopard :)

Would it be a good idea when quoting from a source such as fb or websites to cite the source?

Apparently the transfer of the young Snow Leopards probably won't be until the Autumn according to the zoo's Facebook page
You are right Nisha, the male is going to Dudley which has been previously mentioned the females are to go to Howletts and Krefield.

Intentional breeding?
What is the long term plan with the hybrids?

This question has been asked and answered before when a previous female gave birth, The zoo's bull departed to Port Lympne some time ago but given the lengthy gestation period it was obviously going to take some time before the herd could be truly classed as none breeding but all births were with the full knowledge and permission of the coordinator at that time. I believe this should be the last birth at Banham.

We indeed discussed this before on the thread. Thanks for clarifying.
I just not was expecting another hybrid birth afters ....

Mischa the Amur Tiger has left the collection for Blair Drummond Safari Park allowing a female to arrive for the remaining male Kuzma she is to arrive from Portugal soon.

Thats not quite true as he hasn't left yet, I am assuming you have lifted this information from their facebook page, if you check again you will see he is due to leave in the next few weeks.

So are you sure they are not leaving until autumn? I need to see them! I only saw them once because I live quite far away....

Yes the Snow Leopards I had it confirmed to where they were departing to and when by the head of Animal Management.

I think we are all getting a little confused here, the Snow leopard cubs are to leave in the Autumn and Mischa, the male Amur tiger is due to leave in the next few weeks but hasn't left yet.
