Other than Japanese Macaques, the other 22 or so macaque species are practically unheard of in North American zoos. After visiting hundreds of zoos on the continent, I've only ever seen Barbary Macaques once (Toronto Zoo - 2008) even though they are common in European zoos.
I've only ever seen Rhesus Macaques 5 times in North American zoos, one in Canada and the other 4 occasions in roadside, unaccredited facilities. If you travel to Europe or Asia to visit zoos, then macaques are everywhere, but in North America it's only Japanese Macaques and then the odd other species here and there can occasionally be seen.
