In this country we have a notion that certain animals have a bad reputation unfortunatly it's not the case for some animals.
Bats are one of the main species that people seem to have a thing about and in the past not many people have given them a thought as endangered animals.
I would like to know as to what you think UK zoos should be doing to help keep our native population of Bats safe

Do you think we should save our Bats?

I think the 'bad' reputation of bats has declined a lot in recent years, with programmes like autumnwatch doing a lot to educate the general public. Plus the good exbitions some zoos have.

We have bat boxes up around our school and never once have any of my classes ever voiced horror or fear about bats nesting in them, in fact they are disappointed that they aren't around to see them in the evenings.

Should we take steps to save our native bats? Definitely, why would we even need to question this. Bats (like any creature) are a vital part in their eco-systems and a lovely native animal to have around.

Went to Twycross today and went into the tropical house for the first time in a while. Was with a family of about 6 people, the girls were pretty terrified of the bats and wouldn't stop squealing. I personally think they're fab creatures. Lots of people have "issues" with rats too and I've offen heard people talk about bats as "flying rats"
