On 30th August, Battersea announced the arrival of 'Rico' a male prehensile-tailed porcupine originally from Hemsley Conservation Centre.

On April 3rd, the zoo announced that Rico passed away in late March due to an illness caused by a liver infection.

Also on April 3rd, the zoo announced they received a grant from the London Beekeepers Association Pollinator Fund to build a Native Pollinator Trail area, which will be completed by early summer.

On July 21st, the zoo announced they acquired (1.1) Patagonian cavies named Rufus and Mavis from Drayton Manor Resort in Staffordshire and Exotic Zoo Telford in Shropshire, respectively, which are on display next to the emu.
