Well I did say it was going to be a busy year! :D
Last few days of 2022 have been spent building. Finally did the finishing touches to the new tayra complex (pictured) and whilst we wait for our female to come, Silas is loving having both sides to himself...so much space to explore!

Already got started on the next development.

Early 2023 is going to be spent improving for our current animals (as well as a few additions along the way).
But even though this thread is called 2022, I'll probably still keep posting on here, d'you reckon?

You'd be hard pushed to see a cuter small mammal baby right now!

Ted went outside today for an hour or so.

Naked mole rats have had pups.

Berkshire piglets, Beryl & Maureen, are out of quarantine and charging around their paddock....never seen happier pigs! Finn (male lynx) is loving his completely oblivious new neighbours too and stalks them all day.

Got this park on my re-visit checklist for the summer. With the new additions and revamps,it looks promising.Might throw in a high summers day walk along the Thames from Pingbourne station, glimpsing Jimmy Pages former boathouse on the way down to you.

New arrivals: 1.0 Ring Tailed Lemur, 3.0 meerkats

Tomistoma (Vinnie) and Burmese python (the magnificent 'Monty') moved into new exhibits...they look really nice. Will try post pics tomorrow.

I really enjoyed my visit the other day, but was surprised to see that the laughingthrushes, probably the most 'zoo nerd' species held at Beale, aren't signed in their aviary!

They're on the next run of signs. They were going to leave us which is why we didn't get a sign, but now they're not:D

Interestingly, according to ZIMS, they're the only captive ones in the world!

Excellent!

Very cool birds and a pleasure to see - are they a male/female pair?

Honestly? Unsure. The previous administration was a little bit...errrr, how do I say this tactfully?....off; so their record keeping was similarly not great. We do know that they're pretty ancient and probably past breeding age.

We're a fairly new management team and getting the park back into shape. I hope you noticed that we've been working hard on that.;)

Monty's house, complete with fully plumbed in concrete pool at the back. His last enclosure was a good size, but this one is a great upgrade! So much space to explore and tried to include plenty of climbing as he's incredibly active for a large snake.

Young Tomistoma (Vinnie) in the new "Crocodile Creche". Comes with beaches, and a waterfall that you can see her sitting on in the background.

Both of these were almost completely made using found materials (apart from the plants).

I really did notice! Good time all round, despite not seeing your tayra... It has a real feeling of a place on the up.
