Have they still got their bear? Do you think they'll continue with the species?
I will find out tomorrow (Monday) for you, going through to the safari park for the day.
Have they still got their bear? Do you think they'll continue with the species?
The last one day either early this year or late last year,at current they don`t have any not sure what the plan is for the enclosure!Have they still got their bear? Do you think they'll continue with the species?
To the best of my knowledge they have NEVER breed Bears at Blair Drummond, the last 2 were a very good age for Brown Bears when they died, and as far as i know they were to old to breed when they arrived at B.D.then it must have been a few years ago.. cause i distinctly remember a bear cub falling off a log an splashing into the water .... i think...lol
We could indeed try and replace either of the bears to and mix things up abit but we are happy to keep them together the way they are as again the demand is realatively low.![]()

Wellington Zoo in NZ breeds them at intervals too. Seems there is some luck(or knack?) involved in establishing a good breeding pair with Sun Bears.
They can split the bears in the house if required! So does anyone know what off-exhibit facilities are in place for future breeding at RSCC, or is the current enclosure there a temporary exhibit for the still young animals?
