Im afraid the female anteater is still delayed!
The tigers will indeed be replaced but you will have to watch this space to see what happens !
The clues are falling into place, an Asian animal, only kept in one collection outside Asia, a replacement for the tiger, by jove i have it.

Fiji banded iguana? Are these iguanas unrelated to others in the European region?
I know quite a few are bred by private breeders, but sadly no zoos have had continuous success at breeding them for the moment. Blijdorp in Rotterdam was the first European zoo to maintain and breed the species. Since, then their skewed sex ratio has had breeding falter. Thankfully, lately it seems more and more collections are investing in breeding pairs of Fiji bandeds and hopefully an ESB or EEP will be in the offing.
I am a little concerned though that some of the Fiji bandeds may originate from the same private source.
Secondly, where did the male Francois come from? Hope it was intercontinental ex US, so we expand the founding stock of the European cohort breeding programme.
I hope you can clarify things ... for us!

There had been some talk of perhaps a male coming from san diego however im not 100% if this will happen! a male has recently been bred at beauval but as he is a full sibling i guess he would be better suited with the Epe female! It may be a wee while until we get one but we will keep looking!

No unfortuantly Belfast Zoo doesn't have Orangutans but it has a quite a large collection of rare monkeys, lemurs and primates
Love Belfast to get Orangutans though
Thanks for the prompt reply. Orangs are my favourite but the gorillas there will be a close second!!

And yeah we got a good group of gorillas and chimpanzees amongst others
Am planning to visit first week in Sept - I saw some of the Bristol Zoo series which featured the gorillas and they looked an impressive group! Went to Twycross Monday but they have lost a few over the last 3 years which is a shame. I love the big silverbacks!

Make sure you visit every inch of the zoo on the map!
Can't tell you how many people don't go down to the Tapirs, Bongos etc but at least it's very quite down there for those species! Also the giant anteater and Capybara are down there, may have moved by the time you visit though

Hi again, thanks for the tip - will make sure I scan the map and cover it all!! That's if I don't spend all day watching the gorillas of course!
