I have a few questions in regards to the Belle Isle Nature Center and the Belle Isle Aquarium, a pair of small facilities in the state of Michigan.

1- Does the Nature Center have any other captive animals besides fallow deer? Is there a display of reptiles, amphibians and fish or are the animals listed on the facility's website found only in the surrounding wild?

2- Belle Isle Aquarium lists its hours as 10-4 every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. However, in the summer is the facility open daily? Can anyone confirm whether it is still only open on weekends? America's oldest aquarium!

I believe there is.

I believe there is.

I emailed the facility and you are correct that Belle Isle Nature Center not only has a herd of fallow deer, but there are also representatives of reptiles, amphibians and fish.

Also, Belle Isle Aquarium is only open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, meaning that I'll likely not be able to squeeze it in on this summer's 'Snowleopard Road Trip'. That is really disappointing, as the facility was built in 1904 and is America's oldest aquarium (tied with Waikiki).

This is the only topic I found regarding the Belle Isle Aquarium, but I want to note that I did visit the place yesterday and will post pics soon. They went through a recent renovation and was closed throughout most of the pandemic, and only recently opened a few weekends ago (and yes, they still are closed on weekdays). From my understanding, it is supposedly the oldest public aquarium in the country, and is also apparently the only place in North America where you can see all gar species in one building. Lighting wasn't the best in some areas, and it was decently crowded, so unfortunately I won't be able to upload all photos I've taken (only picking out those that turned out well). Also going to note that some species were also off-exhibit during my visit.

Update: I did upload some pictures into the media section. I'll probably post a few more later, and I'll also list the species that I recalled seeing.
