Two belugas recently moved to SWC.

Atla from SWT and Klondike from SWF.

Seems like a full house for SWC, wonder if someone is moving out.

Also curious if SWF is making room for a calf. Has been a lot of breeding activity at SWF, the boys would not leave Whisper alone!

This is a very interesting turn of events.

Pearl and Atla, both half sisters born on the same day (June 23, 2010), are both sired by Nanuq.

If I had to guess, Klondike, who is on the cusp of sexual maturity at a few months shy of 12, has managed to impregnate either Whisper or Maple at Orlando.

It doesn't make much sense to move Nanuq to San Antonio considering that is the breeding hub in the states, Nanuq already has several offspring, and they already have Imaq (who only has two young calves), however if I had to guess they will probably just use Nanuq as a waterworks whale and male companionship for Imaq.

San Diego has a proven breeding female in Ruby, who only has one offspring, and another mature female named Allua with no offspring. My guess is that San Diego is going to focus hard on breeding their two mature females with their two mature males (Klondike and Ferdinand), as all four of these whales are very under-represented in the american captive population.
