Berlin Zoo Berlin visit - Apes, monkeys etc.

Hello everyone! I'll be visiting Berlin in October, I have approximately 4 days in the city and plan to do nothing but go to the zoos as I have already seen the rest of the city before. I am mostly interested in great apes but also other primates. Which of the two Berlin zoos is the best for monkeys, both in selection but also in enclousures? Both Zoo Berlin and Tierpark seem to have interesting selections with many primates not found in collections in my country, but seems to me that Berlin has the bigger selection of species. I also plan to bring my camera and take pictures of the primates, for photography is Tierpark or Zoo best regarding things like lighting, outside acces, fencing and glass?

I am currently considering spending 2 days in each zoo but as only Berlin Zoo has great apes (my favorites and biggest reason for choosing to go to Berlin) I would consider spending 3 days there and then 1 in Tierpark, as knowing myself I can spend days just looking at one type of great ape. Would it be realistic to see Tierpark in one day if my focus is their primates? If the weather turns out to be bad during the visit, is one zoo better than the other to visit during bad weather?

Finally I would also like to know if anyone has any information about the great apes that lives in Berlin Zoo. I have names and ages of the gorillas and chimpanzees but know next to nothing about the orangutans and bonobos. Any information about any of the great apes or their enclosures would be appreciated!

Let me know if there's anything else worth knowing about the zoos, I am very much looking forward to visiting!
Also let me know if I should have posted this somewhere else - I am quite new to ZooChat and still not familiar with the etiquette of the site :)

I would say that the collection of primates is substantially better in the zoo but the exhibits are of a higher quality in the Tierpark. Tierpark’s monkey house was renovated in the last 10 years or so, the zoo’s primate house is probably the zoos weakest area imo.

Thanks for letting me know! I'll be sure to keep that in mind. I guess it's quite common for older zoos to always have some enclosures that are lacking a bit behind the times.

Wow thanks so much for the overview, it seems both Tierpark and Zoo has impressive collections. I have a lot I'm looking forward to :D
