The Andean Flamingo group is still relatively decent with 10 to 15 individuals, I unfortunately only saw one (maybe more bts) James’.

Right and thanks for the update on the South Americans. How large is the lesser flamingo flock now?

Also, been wondering ever since I visited Berlin Zoo years ago ... is their presentation of all 3 flamingo species in a relatively confined space still durable and qualitative good modern age bird management, husbandry and exhibitry.

The Lesser Flamingo group looks lively with the two small chicks and a juvenile. I seem to remember 10 to 15 here as well.

On my visit two weeks ago, the Amazon fish tanks and the jellyfish and that area were about the only things you couldn't see.

As mentioned in the Hippo population thread, hippo twins were born on 28/09 to mother, Nala. One unfortunately passed after birth (as usually occurs when hippo twins are born) but the other is doing well.

1 King Penguin has hatched on July 6th.

Noch trägt das Küken ein braunes Daunenkleid. Erst nach 10 bis 13 Monaten bekommt der Nachwuchs mit seiner ersten Mauser die für Königspinguine typische Gefiederfarbe. On July 6, a little king penguin hatched at Zoo Berlin and has been growing rapidly ever since – as this small photo recap shows. The chick is still wearing its brown downy feather coat. After 10 to 13 months it will develop the characteristic plumage of a king penguin."

Does anyone local or anyone who has visited recently know how the refurbishment of the Antelope House is progressing? I thought I read somewhere that it was due to be completed this autumn. But haven't heard or seen much about it. I’m really hoping to visit it again when I’m there next weekend.
