I was wondering what people think are the best exibits for different species in this country.

For example:

Lions:
Tigers:
Orangutan:
Chimps:
Gorrilas:
Rhino
Hippos
Elephants
Giarffes
Penguins
Sea lions
Komado dragons
Lemurs

and which has the best reptile or fish houses...

For me i would say out of the uk zoos i have been to colchester has a great Elephant enclosure and a good sealion enclosure. I also like the mixed african exibit. Seal lions is also decent.

Whipsinade has a nice lemur walk thru exibit and elephant enclosure.

Edinburgh and london both have nice penguins enclosures, both large in size.

In my humble opinion

For example:

Lions: Yorkshire Wildlife Park
Tigers: Yorkshire Wildlife Park, closely followed by Highland Wildlife Park
Orangutan: Chester
Chimps: "Edinburgh
Gorrilas: Howletts/Port Lymne
Rhino Mmm, Chester probably
HipposFlamingoland
ElephantsWhipsnade
Giarffes Woburn
Penguins Edinburgh
Sea lions Blackpool/Colchester
Komado dragonsLondon
Lemurs Cotswold, based on species

and which has the best reptile Londonor fish houses London...

I don't normally post on these "best of" type threads, you got me on a good day:D

For example:

Lions:
Tigers:whipsnade (purely from visitor perspective-London)
Orangutan:Paignton
Chimps:Edinburgh
Gorrilas:Port Lympne
Rhino Black-Chester Indian-Whipsnade
Hippos have only seen Whipsnade(i dont count Longleat!)
Elephants Whipsnade
Giarffes Marwell
Penguins Edinburgh
Sea lions Blackpool/colchester
Komado dragons London
Lemurs- from the enclosure it could be Paignton, if it had more lemurs in it! But species wise it has to be Cotwsold, even though haven't been there.

and which has the best reptile Paignton or fish houses..London.
I've never been to YWP or HWP so can't comment on their big cat enclosures, but probably from what i've seen YWP has the best lion exhibit.
Just a few more personal favourites:
Bears - Whipsnade
Lynx - New Forest WP
Jaguar, Cheetah, hunting dog -Chester (bit of a balancing act there to make up for my dislike of Realm of theRed Ape!)
Best nocturnal house - Bristol

Whilst i accept you are arguing purely on space, i personally wouldn't call Longleat's lake an exhibit really, and all i saw of the hippos was 2 mounds in a corner of the lake some distance from the boat.
Anyway i'm biased probably because at 30 quid entrance i would say Longleat is the worst value for money i've been to!
