This is just a bit of fun to judge the general consensus on the best enclosure Capybaras in the Benelux. I have added a few photos from the gallery to make it easier for members to compare the different exhibits. If anyone wants to make an argument for a particular enclosure, please feel free to do so. Also, I would encourage people to list the enclosures in order of what they think is best.

If you want to vote for Bouillon, Monde Sauvage, Bellewaerde Park, Pakawi, Valee la Sure, Zonnegloed, Artis, Hoenderdaell, De Paay, Gaia, Maastricht or Blanckendaell please vote for the "Other" option in the poll.

Bouillon

Unfortunately there are no photos of this enclosure in the gallery. If someone could describe or provide a photo of the exhibit, that would be great.

I voted for Pairi Daiza. Having a huge body of water and that being a natural river can't be beaten. There is also still space for grazing and a natural riverbank with shrubbery and hiding spots. this comes pretty close to the natural habitat.

I’m going for the Apenheul: a mixed exhibit with monkeys instead of the ‘standard South American animals’, loads of water and plenty of land too

Here is a picture from Maastricht Daalhoeve.

When I went last May it wasn't in use yet, the sign on the left actually says it is being prepared for them.
(but from their FB I read it is in use now)

I'm going for Gaia, large intricate moat system that is accessed by the capybaras, access to multiple islands and a mix with monkeys. For me this is a great enclosure, you have shade and grass, large areas of water that are irregularly shaped. I love that by utilizing capybaras you don't waste the space of the moats.

Poll closed. Congratulations to Apenheul for having the Best Capybara enclosure in the Benelux. Although the zoo itself is focused around primates, the exhibit mixed with spider monkeys is very good for monkeys and capybaras, giving them plenty of water and land space. With this exhibit about to win it for the spiders too, it shows how good the Apenheul exhbits are. A mention to Pairi Daiza who has done well with their exhbit being connected to a real river, but unfortunately not won for any of the three species in it. @GiratinaIsGod did you vote for Gaia or something else?

Apenheul: 30.0%
Pairi Daiza: 25.0%
Gaia: 15.0%
Zie-Zoo: 10.0%
Overloon: 10.0%
Other: 10.0%
Burgers: 5.0%
