Best Christmas Movies

As we are ever quickly approaching the holidays, I thought it'd be nice to give you all the opportunity to share your favourite movies of the season. Please, if you could, leave how to watch the film with the title. It helps if you name the streaming service.

It's not a Christmas movie, it's just a movie that happens to take place on Christmas. Like Die Hard.
You're right that you could have Die Hard take place on any day of the year and it would still largely be the same movie, but the general atmosphere of the Home Alone movies is synonymous with Christmas. If it took place in July for example, you would have to change a bunch of little details and plot elements and it really wouldn't be the same movie.

Anyway, not sure if this is a hot take, but I actually prefer Home Alone 2 over the original; no it isn't just because it features the most unintentionally hilarious cameo in cinematic history. :p

A few other of my personal favorites:
  • It's a Wonderful Life
  • Four Christmases
  • Fred Claus
  • Christmas with the Kranks
  • Elf
  • A Charlie Brown Christmas

Not to mention a big chunk of the sound track is Christmas music or Christmas based.

My favourite, actually it's three
National lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Its a Wonderful Life
Home Alone
Unfortunately I am one of those people who isn't a great lover of Christmas, so I need all the chuckles that I can get

As I understand it all of the Home Alone sequels are pretty much universally hated (other than ironic enjoyment for a scene with a certain former president), so yeah, that's a hot take.

Seriously, what does it do better than the original?

From what I've heard most people consider the sequel to be on par with the original, but yes I refuse to acknowledge the existence of everything after 2.

I realize this is a pretty dramatic way to describe a home alone movie, but in the second one it feels like the stakes are much higher. In the first film the parents can reasonably infer that Kevin is probably still at the house, but in 2 all they know is that he's somewhere in the largest city in the country. It all feels much grander in scale (and I also think the slapstick scenes are funnier). It's only marginally better than the first in my opinion and I just happen to enjoy it slightly more.

Most people seem to like Home Alone 2 from what I've heard. The others, not so much.

Prancer, Olive the Other Reindeer, Bad Santa...
