Hi, I have been wondering what other zoo's collections have been like since I have only been to around 70 zoos myself. You may add any particular things about the collections in any zoo you have been to!
I really appreciate the Omaha zoo's collection. Some thoughts about the Omaha zoo may be a little bias, But I personally enjoy its extensive collection of over 900 species.
Hoping there will be more post's after this!

That's already more than many members of this site can boast... I'm only at 46.

What do you mean with best? Most comprehensive, largest, largest diversity in taxa?

If you are interested in species numbers the following link gives quite a good indication for Europe:
www.Zootierliste.de
Any of those things would be fine. I am basically interested in hearing other people's perspective in zoos collections. I personally would like to hear the diversity of any zoo collection, but any of those side note topics would be great to back up your opinions on any zoo's collection.
(And yes, I have checked out Zootierliste.)

Best wishes,
Luke:)

I believe that the Berlin Zoo (if you count the aquarium) has the most species of any zoo, Hell it may even be without the aquarium it has the most species.

Nopes, Shedd Aquarium is the most species rich zoos, with 1433 species according to the latest International Zoo Yearbook, Zoo Berlin + Aquarium has 1363 species. Not counting the aquarium building Berlin would have less than 500 species.

*Memphis Zoo is listed as having 200+ mammal species and 200+ bird species, is that correct?

**Madrid Zoo is listed with 989 species, 680 of which are fish, this seems to be an error though.

Bronx has 801 species? By my estimates they would only have around 300-500 species. And is there a species list for Shedd?

As noted, this number probably includes the other WCS facilities, like the aquarium, central park zoo and others.

How many species does all four Singapore zoo have combined? I suppose it will be quite high up the list.

How many species does all four Singapore zoo have combined? I suppose it will be quite high up the list.

The 4 Singapore zoos (excluding SEA off course) combined held 956 different species according to their latest annual report.

It says the Singapore zoo has only 315 species? I am not sure that is righto_O

According to the latest Yearbook Singapore Zoo itself holds only 285 species, which makes total sense given the low numbers of fish and bird species.
