There is no arabian wild cats anymore. When I went, there was common racoons in that exhibit.
 
I thought I would chime in on the discussion from some of the zoos I've been visiting this summer. I will through out some suggestions of exhibits that I think are real standout ones.

Dallas - Tiger Habitat
Caldwell - North American Plains
Houston - Lion exhibit

Wow, that actually a BIG improvement! Although, I don't know how far north raccoons actually range. I would guess nowhere near the tundra, but improvement is improvement.
 
I heard that they rotate this exhibit once a week, currently there are pangolins and kiwis. No! Just kidding! This sounds like a real rotating exhibit over the years though!
 
jb, of those three I have only seen the Dallas tiger exhibit, which is indeed very nice and has several nice architectural viewing shelters included. When I was there, there was an otter exhibit nearby that appeared to be the same style, but it was closed off. Is it nice too?

The otter exhibit is very nice. When did you go? If it was just a few months ago, they were installing a new, much bigger underwater viewing window about double the size of the old ones.
 
Yup, that is when they were updating the otter exhibit. It looks a whole lot better, and it didn't look bad before.
 
I think the two best exhibits I have seen are the Lied Jungle in the Henry Doorly Zoo, as well as the Kingdoms of the Night exhibit in the same zoo. My particular favorite in the Kingdoms of the Night exhibit was the swamp section. It's been about 15 years since I have been there so I'm not sure if this is up to date or not, but Tropic World in Brookfield Zoo is nice.
 
I think all of the Lied Jungle is interesting. I can't say as I have a favorite in that one. In the Kingdoms of the Night exhibit my favorite section is the swamp. The way they set it up with the Spanish moss on the ceiling, the murals, and the boardwalk, it was really neat. I also like how they set it up like a trapper's cabin and the entrance with the amphibians and snakes in the washbasin and other household items. I wanted to spend more time in there but it was pretty crowded. :(
 
jb, something tells me that Dallas' otter exhibit would make my top list for small mammals if it had been open when I was there!
 
No doubt it would. It is a great little exhibit. Seems like you just happened to visit the one time when it was under maintenance.
 
elefante, there is a picture or two of the otter exhibit at Dallas in the Dallas Zoo gallery, it looks like it has a large glass fronted enclosure and alot of space.
