This is just a bit of fun to judge the general consensus on the best enclosure for Tayras in the Benelux. I have added a few photos from the gallery to make it easier for members to compare the different exhibits. If anyone wants to make an argument for a particular enclosure, please feel free to do so. Also, I would encourage people to list the enclosures in order of what they think is best.

The Warthog and Giant anteater threads are closing today, so if you want to vote or say something on them now’s your last chance.

Bouillon also has tayras, although I suspect this is a recent addition ZTL has not yet picked up on. I have added three images of the exhibit below (images starting with P624).

At Zie-Zoo there were two exhibits housing tayra at my recent visit, the one shown above and an exhibit in the entrance building, which I have added two images of below (images starting with P531).

Ok, thank you. I’ll add them to the poll.

I don't think that any of these exhibits are aesthetically appealing and it's difficult to make a choice. Ha! I remember De Paay being an awful zoo, Faunapark Flakee had many rarities but was very much a home-made zoo, and Zie-Zoo might be my choice as there are two Tayra exhibits and so perhaps there can be some movement for the animals between the two enclosures.

Taking a quick look at the exhibits at De Paay, it seems their tayra exhibit is probably one of their least bad, I found an additional image and it looks pretty decent.

Personally I voted for Flakkee as between the three exhibits I have seen (I have not been to De Paay) it for me striked the best balance between aesthetics and facilities for a climbing species. The exhibits at Zie-Zoo are also not bad in terms of structure, but aesthetically aren't the greatest, especially not the older metal aviary.

Personally I would love for a larger zoo to get tayras and put them in a more expensive exhibit with a bit of fancier design and theming.

Poll closed. Congratulations to De Paay for having the best Tayra enclosure in the Benelux. The dense and tall enclosure gave it an easy win. This is their first apearence and win in these polls.

De Paay: 71.4%
Faunapark Flakee: 21.4%
Zie-Zoo: 7.1%
