Who do you think has the best website
On this I mean - who gives the best information about there zoo and what it has to offer not just the public but the actual concervation point also
Which website has the best zoo map and gives a full list of animals in there collection.
who gives the best directions to there zoo who has the best photographs on there website this should be interesting to find out what people actually think about the design of websites and if they could be made better.
If so why not let everyone know what you would like on your local zoo's website that they haven't got.

Best Zoo Website Nomination

Who do you think has the best website ...
the best information about the zoo ... a full list of animals in there collection ... the best directions to the zoo ... the best photographs ...

This is a very good topic. I hope a lot of ZooChat people contribute their thoughts.

At this point, the website of the National Zoo in Washington, DC, is the one I think is the best, not just because it provides all the features in all the categories to judge a website by you mentioned above, but because it is the most content-rich of all the zoo websites. In addition, it has many webcams that can be viewed 24 hours a day.

I don't believe there is any better zoo website for educational purposes.

In the UK I particularly like Edinburgh's website . Lots of information on animals in the collection , the weekly blog with plenty of recent collection news , their quarterly newsletter and Annual Report online .

Sorry folk's I forgot to include the following
webcam useage , blog updates, facebook page and inter active useage
please keep using this thread

Excellent topic! Columbus Zoo probably has the coolest looking home page (with the floating earth zoo), and of course San Diego is good as expected. It has keeper blogs and video clips and photos of new babies, etc. One thing I like about my own Reid Park Zoo's website is a page listing green living tips.

I also like websites that have 360 degree panoramic views that you can scroll around with your mouse. I am sure there are a few out there, but the one I can remember off the top of my head is Cameron Park Zoo (Waco, Texas).

I also like Edinburgh's website, I think it's a shame that they haven't done the HWP site in a similar style. They also have a very good blog. Without wanting to be negative, I think London's site is very poor.

Well, I hated the old Edinburgh website but I do love the new website! I hate websites which dont show a view of the park, alot of website provide pictures of animals but not of Enclosures, gardens etc.

Chester has a very good picture section!

I know this is an old thread but I think it's worth adding to...London Zoo have a great new interactive map on their website, it contains lots of information about the animals and facilities available at the Zoo making an ideal resource for planning your visit. Here's a link to the map Interactive ZSL London Zoo map
