The other day I saw three African Elephants swimming in their pool at the Miami Metrozoo. Still, yet to see an Asian the water. Since you have never seen Africans in the water I see why you would rather have an underwater viewing with Asians.

I am two and a half hours away so I don't visit often but I will most likely see it in the fall
Yes, its usually better to see a new exhibit when its a little older! That way the plants have grown and the kinks have been worked out. If I had rushed down to San Diego to see Elephant Odyssey when it opened, I would have seen unfinished lion and leopard exhibits! I still haven't seen it, from what I hear there are several growing seasons needed for the landscape to approach any kind of aesthetic function. I can't blame these institutions for trying to get these exhibits open for summer crowds, even if premature!

My vote (biased, yes...)
I think you'll find a question like this is going to have highly subjective answers due to any given person's favorites in the animal world.
With that said -- I'm surprised no one's mentioned the aviary at the San Diego Zoo. The ONLY other one I've seen which even comes close (so far) is the one at Discovery Cove in Orlando. I don't really count them because they're (a) bloody expensive to get into; and (b), not truly a zoo.
