Big Cat Live on BBC

Has anyone been watching this?

Tonights episode is fantastic, esp with the elephant & lion conflict.

Fascinating behaviour, though most of the good stuff is pre-recorded. Could do with less of the cosy fireside chats and less of Simon King constantly reminding us (or himself?) that the programme is LIVE. We know that Simon, the clue is in the title ;)

I always wonder, when BBC will show us the ultimate cat-related scene - lions catching and eating a human.

BBC presenter could be as good one as any.

Lions are amazing hunters, there is a pride known as the Sarro's and they specilise in hunting buffalo, I remember seeing a pride that took down elephants though I can't remember the pride name,

That is one of the biggest disappointments to me. The fact there is too much chat and not much action, all the other series was more focused on watching the animals instead of talking about watching the animals

Lions being such effective pack hunters, I think gains almost superhero ablities to take down prey.

Overall I would judge the series a success. Saturday's programme had some great live footage of the lionesses gearing up for a hunt, confronting a male hippo and playing with the cubs. Sadly, on Sunday's final show, they were snoozing again and there was an over-reliance on "highlights".

I'm not sure that the BBC could get away with this format for another week now that the novelty value of night-time video has worn off. I would prefer to see them return to the previous "Diary" format, which provided more opportunity for filming the cats for longer and developing their stories, but I somehow think this is unlikely too. The webcam footage seems to have been a big hit - maybe they need to move in this direction next time? Or maybe that's it for Big Cat.

thanks! wow a male hippo, that's impressive they derserve a bravery award for just trying to take him on!

Scrap Big Cat Live, and Bring back Big Cat week (It was so much better, despite the fact that it was filmed about six months before it was aired)

What bugs me is the Big Cat Diary can only be watched off-peak hours (so into the night) by UK viewers. Yet the series is broadcast totally Continental. Snif, snif, snif .... :(
