Chessington Zoo Binturongs adventure ends in horror

I can understand a toddler getting upset, and also think that it's unacceptable that animals can escape from their enclosure and into a Lions enclosure, but to have watched the lions make a kill would have been a fantastic bonus for me. I once saw a tiger catch and kill a magpie at Paignton and it is still one of my fondest memories of any zoo visit.

Don't you just love journalists!!

Ripped apart
Eaten alive
Mauled
Tearing apart

One of the more exciting 'zoo' things I have seen is a lion stalk, crawl, jump and catch a grey squirrel at Knowsley. That lion didn't do much tearing, mauling or ripping, it just ate it bar the tail!

Shame for the little Binturongs, but once they escaped, they went to the wrong place.

It's unfortunate for the binturongs, and obviously not what many visitors to a zoo would expect to see .... but honestly, the sensationalist reporting is ridiculous. The lions did nothing wrong and acted entirely naturally - something they are very rarely able to do inside a zoo. I know exactly what you mean Johnny .... no-one would set something like this up deliberately in a zoo (at least not in most countries - I know some have live feeds for big cats but that's another issue), but when rare circumstances combine to make it happen, it would definitely be a privilege to watch a captive lion make a kill at close quarters.
