Bioparc de la Gaspésie is a facility located in Bonaventure, Quebec. Species at the facility include American black bear, cougar, Canadian lynx, harbor seal, moose, white-tailed deer, striped skunk, American beaver, North American river otter, bald eagle, American kestrel, snowy owl, common snapping turtle, painted turtle, American toad, blue-spotted salamander, brook trout, and African giant millipede, among other animals.

On January 23rd, the zoo announced that a (1.0) cougar named Mira passed away at age 15 due to multiple tumors found in his body.

Also on January 23rd, the zoo announced that a (1.0) American black bear named Couscous passed away at age 20.

On April 25th, it was reported that the zoo wanted to capture (0.0.20) caribou for breeding purposes as the local population is under 100 animals, though when presented to the ministry in September 2021, they were not interested.

On August 30th, the zoo announced they acquired a (0.1) harbor seal named Hope in early June.

On November 8th, the zoo announced they have begun work on Phase 1 of their "Evolution" plan, of which construction will start in late 2023-early 2024 and will have $13 million in investments by 2026. Improvements will include rebuilding the footbridge at the entrance, a new 1300 square meter aviary, an enlarged and improved animal care building, and a new pavilion for temporary exhibits.

On February 13th, 2024, the zoo announced that a (1.0) Canada lynx named Baba passed away at age 16 due to a cancerous tumor in its bladder.

On May 29th, the zoo announced they acquired 2 North American river otters which are on exhibit.

On July 14th, the zoo announced they acquired 2 new insect species (Unknown grasshopper species and thorny devil stick insect) which are on display in the Insectarium.

On May 29th, the zoo announced they acquired 2 North American river otters which are on exhibit.
The two North American River Otters were named Andy and Reagan, they are a male and a female.

Other news

  • The Zoo finished renovating the building dedicated for animal care, where the two river otters lived in the summer, waiting for the otter exhibit to be completed.
  • The Zoo has a new river otter exhibit, and Andy and Reagan are in the process of exploring it.
