I was surprised to see this magical sounding little zoo in Spain did not have a thread yet, so here we go.
Again thanks to the IZES newsletter, Tim Brown tells us that the zoo has inherited or taken over the now closed collection of the Senda bird park in Churriana, and even more incredibly can now boast of the second largest collection of hornbills in the world
.
The collection includes 7 Mindanao wrinkled hornbill more than half the European population.
The total collection has no less than 57 hornbills in 16 species (not named).
The Senda bird park only lasted one season, and will be run as an ex-situ breeding centre.
They have also bred the fantastic New Caledonian giant gecko
