News:
- Bioparc Fuengirola leads the transfer of Crocodile monitors (Varanus salvadorii) from the Honolulu zoo for the European conservation program. Once at Bioparc Fuengirola, these nine specimens will undergo an adaptation process before being distributed to other European zoos participating in the conservation program. This joint effort seeks to increase knowledge about the biology and needs of the species, while contributing to its reproduction in captivity.
For the EEP, the arrival of these young animals represents an important genetic revitalization in the populations of European zoos, since this species reproduces very little in these parks, and these young individuals are destined to contribute to the improvement of the genetic variability of the species.

- One of Edward's female pheasants (Lophura edwardsi) that hatched at Fuengirola was selected to be released back into the wild in Vietnam. Through the conservation program of this species, a series of individuals belonging to the EPP have been selected. These specimens will undergo a quarantine period in Tierpark Berlin and from there they will be transferred to their habitat of origin: Vietnam.

Birth news:
- Last week, two Red river hogs (Potamochoerus porcus) were born at the Bioparc, but only one of the two piglets survived the first hours of life. The surviving little hog has settled in nicely on the small sounder housed at the park, consisting of it's parents and an unrelated female.

Apparently, it's the second gorilla birth this whole year in all of Europe.
It's just the third offspring born this year within the European population (which is very surprising when you think about it). Fasanolandia, a park in Italy, welcomed two offspring a few months back - so Fuengirola are essentially the second facility to have a gorilla birth this year.
