Bioparc Valencia Bioparc Valencia News

I'll be visiting again this week, and I'm really looking forward to it. Is the klipspringer still alive?

In my last visit (8th of June) the klipspringer it's still alive, but with limp in his right back leg.

Yes, this extension are planned from the beginning, but has been delayed so far.
In the other hand, they (the same Company who managed two Bioparcs) are planning to build an aquatic themed park, with fake rocky canyons, for rafting, swimming, and things like that.
Not related with animals.
The two projects are planned for open in 2019.
But the aquatic park it's not approved yet.

Of course Asian expansion have animals. But not pretty sure what Species.

5 days ago a baby gorilla has born.
(Mambie X Ali) seems the newborn it's a female.

There is a mistake here with names. The mother is Ali, not Nalani. Nalani is mother of Virunga, 11 months old baby.
And Ali it's Ebo mother too.

And others births:
A week ago, one West bongo was born, it's a female.
A white crowned mangabey was born in late June.

Visited on Monday for the first time and was generally very impressed . I was very pleased to see the klipspringer , probably the most unusual species . As with most collections these days , the species on show can mostly be seen in many other places .
My favourite exhibit had to be the Kitum Caves with the underwater hippo viewing . I would love to see something similar for hippos in a UK collection . The mixed Equatorial Forest exhibit was good with a nice breeding group of drills , the adult male drill was not as shy as some others , his offspring were chasing the talapoins and interacting with a pygmy hippo .
Saw the new baby gorilla with the rest of the family group .

For sure the father of both are the first bongo born in Valencia, in November 2013. Sire Kani Dam Elewa.
I can't found the name of that individual.
