Bioparc Valencia Bioparc Valencia News

Sorry, it was a little confusing (only to me?) if you meant africa as a continent itself or "africa" at bioparc. Now it is clear.

Let us go on and see, what happen in future with bioparc and its theme zones. Beside my critics I am sure that valencias new zoo is going a good way in general.

In fact the elephant herd is composed by 1.9 elephants Jambo the bull, 6 younger cows (between 4 and 6 yo)they arrived from a Namibian ranch, and 3 adult females, 2 arrived from Moscow and the last adult cow arrived from a circus (Circo Mundial) and of course bioparc can keep all 10 elephants :D

I am looking for the individual names and ~ ages of each of the 6 Namibian L.a., but cannot find informations about anywhere. Maybe "Keeper" or anybody else could give me a hand?

Finally! after long time awaited... October 4th Sunday officially great opening for the cave Kitum in Bioparc! :) for which we have annual pass they makes apre-opening on Friday (hopefully I can go this day) and Saturday... if inside it have wood light conditions will take a few photos...;)

I assume you have allready seen the picture of the kitum cave I placed in the gallery some time ago?

Yes I see, but the cave it´s not open yet,:)

@ Miguel the wheather in Valencia it´s usually temperate in middle November we have 12-15 ºC

Thanks Keeper! Do you get a lot of rain at that time of the year? I'm guessing it's pretty much like here in Portugal, but I wanted to check anyway... Thanks a lot!

Do you have such a heavy temperature drop? In september I had 33 degrees. Which is off course an ideal temperature when visiting a african themed park;)

The mainly rainy seasons in the Mediterranean climate are spring and autumn, so that in November it is rare for rain...i start to upload pics for Kitum cave at gallery...:D

Yesterday was the official great opening of Kitum Cave, with the presence of the Mayor of the city, and media (newspapers, TV, radio, etc. .)and 100 annual pass holders specially guests for this day... The project will cost 3.5 million € and with this opening by the moment, Bioparc has finished the exhibits construction, pending the extension of America and Asia (which would not start before 5 years at least, I think...)

Can you find some pics in this local newspaper:

Visita la cueva de Kitum. levante-emv.com _generico_

And of course in the gallery ;)

@Keeper

Thank you for the information. Looks good to great. I still miss pictures of small animals like fishes. Are they already there or will they follow soon?

So far only seen one fish species, and a keeper told me, that many fish species (cichlids) goes slowly reaching ...including African lungfish.I can't wait for seen them.

The other day in a TV program one speaker for Bioparc said that "Pipa" daughter of the hippopotamus "Raff" and "Rigas" will be sent "soon" at Rome's Bioparco following recommendations from the EEP coordinator.

Just a few news: "Pipa" young hippo female it´s in Rome now, in the cave we can see a lot of fishes, with the hippos and with crocodiles too.
Today I have news from Kabuli and Thomas in a local TV program, the adaptation process with Jitu it´s running step by step, but well by the moment.
I heard that Black-backed jackals are incorporated to animals shows in the amphitheatre.
I hope to see them soon.

Ey Miguel!...You cannot say that here it's cold or raining, eh? :D

No, it's a really nice weather!! A friend of mine which is an animal trainer at Bioparc said you haven't had such a good weather in a while! It made this trip even better! Madrid was a bit cold, but at least I didn't got any rain...

I managed to find 2 of the fish species exhibited in the cave (Nimbochromis venustus) Venustus Hap or Giraffe Hap & (Oreochromis mossambicus) Mozambique tilapiine, and Labridae Family but I don´t know the exactly species.
