Temaiken Bioparc Bioparque Temaikèn News

Currently, there are two capybara enclosures in the park: opposite the Aguara Territory, next to the Azara agoutis. There is one enclosure for a small capybara, about 5 or 6 months old, rescued from trafficking. It lives with a caiman (Caiman latirostris).

PS: When I discover how to publish photos on the page, I will share images of temaiken and its evolution.
Good to hear some news about Temaiken! Territorio Aguara's capybara and maned wolf enclousure is a beautiful and well-done exhibit, with a really interesting mix of species :)

About this younger capybara, does it live well with the caiman? I know that Broad-snouted caimans and capybaras do coexist in the wild (I have seen them side-by-side personally), but they do eat them, and a younger individual could easily become a meal.

About the picture posting, it will take a while for you to post any photos, since your account is quite new. If you need any help, I suggest you visit the community forum, there's a lot of helpfull information there! ZooChat Community & Website

Both animals show little interest in each other. The capybara seeks to explore the enclosure, and the caiman has established boundaries but experiences no conflict over its presence. This caiman lived with other capybaras for much of its life. In the future, plans are for more caimans to live in the enclosure.
As for the maned wolf's enclosure, it's quite an interesting mix. The park is looking to move away from housing exotic specimens and focus on local wildlife. Fun fact: The enclosure was originally designed for Humboldt penguins. They lived there until approximately 2007.

I've been told that some exotics would remain at the zoo, such as lemurs, hippos, wallabies and some birds. Do these plans still remair or will Temaikén phase out all of the non-native species?

It’s such a pity that Temaiken is going to phase out most of their exotic species; it used to have a great collection with unique species for Argentina. But I can see why they are making that decision.

It will be exciting to see which species are going to replace the exotic ones, Argentina has an interesting fauna.

An adult's entrance fee to the park is $54,880.00 Argentine pesos and can only be purchased online. Upon entry, you will be asked if you are Argentine or a foreigner. There are also prices for minors, and they offer bank promotions. Regarding transportation, the price varies depending on whether you travel by car or public transport.
