Amazing number of species and aviaries, and thanks for getting a species list! Which species were you saying were 'fillers'?

You're most welcome. There are a couple of aviaries with a single Great Pied Hornbill and a single Vietnamese Pheasant, i'm guessing those are "fillers".

Are those common species then? If they somehow ended up here in Australia they would be impossible rarities! We are extremely deprived of exotics, especially birds unfortunately.

In Singapore's context, i guess they are common - there are 10 Great Pied Hornbills and over a dozen Vietnamese Pheasants in Mandai Wildlife Group's collection. But Australia also has its share of rarities that few or no zoos outside of Australia have.

notable updates on today's trip:

I realised that the water play area has reopened. Hopefully its safer than the last time.

A pair of hooded vultures are going to be introduced to Heart of Africa.

Also are the bee-eaters in the park? It seems their info sign is replaced by another sign about ibises.

I think the Hooded Vultures will not be released into the aviary. They've been in the holding cage since the park opened. They're an old pair so that is perhaps their retirement enclosure.

On a related note, the pair of Spur-Winged Geese that was being kept at the Heart of Africa holding cage has been moved to the Mekong River aviary at River Wonders. They probably did not get along with some of the species at Heart of Africa.

An earlier import of European Bee-Eaters unfortunately all died. There aren't any bee-eaters in the collection now.

not suprised regarding the geese, since for some reason RW has a ton of geographical inaccuracies.

i have one last question. are there magellanic streamerducks in penguin cove? it has no sign of ducks even though it has an info sign

No Steamerducks in the collection yet.

Devastating news. One of Bird Paradise's treasured Philippine Eagles has died. The 19-year-old male Geothermica died last night due to a suspected lung infection after two resuscitations and a blood transfusion - reported on their FB page.

Sad news. The one in left cage or right cage?

Yes he was in the left cage. He was confined to the holding cage when I visited last weekend. Did not realise his condition was so grave. A terrible loss.

Has anyone made a comprehensive list of species for each walkthrough aviary?

Are there any hornbills in walkthroughs?

Also, that’s a stunning photo @Zooish. The team must be devastated, they’re such a special animal it’s a tragic loss.

You have Papuan Hornbills in the Wings of Asia. Sally the Southern Oriental Pied Hornbill and Ruffy(?) the Rufous Hornbill rotate to make an appearance during the Keeper Talk sessions hosted there as well.

In the Heart of Africa there are Trumpeter(?), Northern Red-billed, Von der Decken's, Western Long-tailed, African Pied, and Black-casqued.

Ahhhh that’s so exciting!! We don’t have them here in Australian zoos and I love them so much. Thank you for the info!

5 Madagascar Teal and 2 Yellow Billed Stork were recently acquired from Dvur Kralove

In addition to what @BucerosKeeper has shared, there are also free flying Luzon Hornbills in Wings of Asia, and there are Piping Hornbills instead of Trumpeter Hornbills in Heart of Africa.
