Bird Paradise Bird Paradise news 2024

Hello I'm going to the Bird Paradise in September so I made a list of all the species via Zootierlist. Do you know if this list is up to date ? It is often mentioned (Arriving in 2023 from Jurong Bird Park). But I don't know if all the species were transferred or if some left the collection ?

Since the park opened last year, a couple of species are now not on show.

Wattled Crane is now kept at Breeding and Research Centre (off public view)

European Roller, Sarus crane, Barn owl, Himalayan Griffon Vulture and African Pygmy Goose has died

The female green peafowl is off display

Black spotted barbet, red-winged laughingthrush and black-naped fruit dove are no longer on show, i presumed they have died

African Pygmy Falcon has also been put off show

Are black-chinned fruit doves on show? The count doesn't state them as of last week

Mandai currently does not have any Black-chinned Fruit Doves or Green-headed Tanagers. Missing from the list are Kagu, Long-tailed Broadbill and Red-fronted Barbet.

The White-crowned Hornbills are off show.

I visted Bird Paradise today and saw some unidentified brids. wondering if people would have an idea as to what they are.

In the aviary containing ""Madagascar blue pigeon, Eurasian hoopoe, Speckled mousebird, Nyasa lovebird, Village weaver, Madagascar partridge" there seemed to be an unsigned barbet looking bird. when i put the photo i took on google search, it says it could be a "red fronted tinkerbird"
Anyone know what it was?

Also in the aviary with the Blue winged pitta, there seemed to be a leafbird present as well.

The barbet is Red-fronted barbet, the leafbird is a female lesser green leafbird

updates on today's trip:

1. alot of the vegetation has been trimmed down, making viewing the birds easier. some minor landscape changes here and there

2. Major Mitchell's Cockatoo added to Golden-shouldered Parrot cage at Winged Sanc

3. Baer's Pochard added to SotF; some Marigold Lorikeets and starlings(White-shouldered? Daurian?) are in the holding cages

4. i saw 3(2.1) Australian Pelicans today instead of the usual 4 in WoA

5. saw a Yellow-streaked Lory in AO. newly added?
