Bird Paradise Bird Paradise news 2024

Only Baros appears in the show afaik but they could be rotating like the 2 white-backed vultures
I would hope at some point either 1 or both males enter the cinereous vulture ex situ conservation breeding program. Within the European EEP/EAZA breeding program there is a shortage of available males .... for breeding!

I uploaded 145 photos into the Bird Paradise gallery and the place is absolutely incredible. One of my favourite photos is this one, which is a map of the Mandai Wildlife WEST area that will link Bird Paradise with the upcoming Rainforest Wild park. There's restaurants, playgrounds, a stunning waterfall cavern, and a lot to see without any captive animals around! Singapore is the world's #1 zoo destination by a mile, with 5 parks and an amazing attention to detail around every corner.

Not very likely as both males are already in their 20s.

2.2 Faculated duck and 1.1 Pink-eared ducks are supposedly being acquired by the park

The 2.2 Falcated Ducks and 1.1 Pink-eared Ducks have arrived, as well as 1 each of Baer's Pochard, Australian Wood Duck and Freckled Duck to pair up with the existing singles.

A female Spur-winged Goose also arrived separately not long ago to pair with the lone male at the Zoo.

I noticed some changes of the bird signages at Winged Sanctuary during my visit earlier today:
  1. There used to be a sign for Eastern Crested Guineafowl at Crowned Hornbill’s aviary. Since now the Oriental Pied Hornbills are in that cage, did the guineafowls move to HoA together with Crowned Hornbill?
  2. The sign for Turquoise Tanager has been moved from the Yellow Cardinal cage to Guianan Cock-of-the-rock cage
  3. The sign for Asian Blue Quail has been moved from Mindanao Bleeding Heart cage to Sulawesi Myna cage.
  4. The sign for Jungle Bush Quail at Bali Myna’s cage has been removed.
  5. The sign for Victoria Crowned Pigeon at Common Green Magpie’s cage has been removed.
  6. No more signs of Village Weaver? This one, I’m not 100% sure as I may have just forgot to take photo of the sign.
Does anyone can help to confirm that the removal of those bird signs matches with the removal of the birds as well? I didn't have the time to check the aviary for the (lack of) presence of those bird earlier.

I also saw a hornbill species at the Songs of the Forest holding cage – is that (photos attached - a bit unclear though) a female Luzon hornbill?

Thanks!

BP's village weavers have turned out to be another species (P. vitellinus) and they're all in Heart of Africa

Can (somewhat) confirm, Sam is back in her enclosure however the area is still not allowed to be accessed just yet

Hopefully it'll be opened soon
