Otorohanga Kiwi House bird park forty years old this year

there aren't any threads for Otorohanga, but it just came to my attention that this native bird park is forty years old this year, having opened in February 1971. There's an interesting timeline on their website here: First New Zealand Kiwi House Otorohanga NZ

I visited the park earlier this year, and was a bit disappointed with the place, it had a bit of a run-down feel about it. There was little wrong with most of the exhibits themselves from an animals point of view, but the aviaries, enclosures, and visitor amenities were generally old and appearing to need replacement (some stuff looked like it was about to fall over). I could do a proper review if anyone is interested?

that's always disappointing when you visit a more-or-less iconic collection and it just looks tired and old. I'd definitely be interested in a review when you have the time.
