Hello there! As you can see I’m a person who can’t live without birds. They’ve been my greatest interest since my childhood. I remember these early days when my aunt was taking me to the zoo to see lions, elephants and stuff. She had to force me to go further because I was simply glued to the bird aviaries
I hadn’t grown out of this. I’ve become a maniacal aviculturist. Even my totally unrelated studies haven’t killed this. Not only I gain knowledge about keeping different species but I also rescue birds on daily basis. I’ve received permits for keeping some native species - big thanks for whoever shared AZA care manuals to the public, they helped me a lot
My favorite groups are small European softbills and shorebirds. I have experiences with blackbirds, long-tailed tits, blue tits, some corvids, whitethroats, bluethroats and wood warblers(my favorite softbill ever - hence my name). For shorebirds, my addiction started not so long ago when I took in a one-winged herring gull. He turned out to be incredibly intelligent and completely changed my mind about these creatures. I love him to death, even my not-so-into-birds family loves this little psycho
I dream about opening a sanctuary for disabled and unwanted birds but the future will show if that’s possible.
To sum things up, I came here to find some enclosure/feeding/enrichment/etc ideas for myself but also to show what works for me. Of course I’m gonna upload photos of my birds but right now some of my aviaries are under construction so if you’re curious you must wait a while
