The vultures are located in the last remaining of the former Madagascar habitats. Not sure where they came from, but are almost certainly wild rescues since I'm not aware of anyone breeding either species.

madagascar?
yes, the last of the remaining "box" habitats in what was once the Madagascar habitat. Some time around 2007 or so, the Madagascar theme was removed (the radiated tortoises are the last remnants of it), and the habitats have held a random array of species since- and have slowly been disappearing. It's the small plaza between the Takin side of Marco Polo and the North America Bald Eagle exhibit, next to the Snake Den (Which also used to be part of Madagascar, exhibiting day geckos).

wait already? dang, nothing ever sticks in that area, any idea what happened to the owl(s)?
The last owl was sent to another zoo, I don't know where. Since the snowy owls are rather rare in US zoos, it was the best call to move the owl into a breeding situation at another zoo.
However, let's stop muddying up this thread with information irrelevant to the topic. If you have further questions, either ask in a thread related to Roger Williams Park Zoo, or start a conversation with me and I'll do my best to answer them.

On top of the Bald Eagles and Andean Condors already mentioned in this thread, the Bergen County Zoo also keeps 4 types of owl:
  • Snowy Owl
  • Spectacled Owl
  • Eastern Screech Owl
  • Barn Owl

The Ecotarium in Worcester, MA, has: Barred Owl, Golden Eagle, Bald Eagle, American Kestrel, Eastern Screech Owl, and Turkey Vulture.
